Are you planning to keep an Arowana as your pet fish? Well then, it needs commitment as they can potentially live over 50 years! Watch this video for a complete guide on how to keep Arowana. Jardini or Gulf saratoga and Asian Arowana , Grows up to a size of 24 inches or two feet long (0.6 meters). So it needs a larger version of fish tank having a capacity of more than 150 gallons, The size of the silver Arowana and Black Arowana reaches up to gigantic 40 inches (1 meter) So, they need more than 250 gallons to move around freely. These fishes usually hover at the top near the water surface so the height of the tank need not be very tall. Asian Arowana are the most expensive pet fish, The price of Arowanas varies around the world based on its availability. It is cheaper in Asian countries. I highly recommend you to feed packaged pellet foods. Check this out: https://goo.gl/vtbBta https://goo.gl/aIDNUl Homemade foods, live foods, fish meat, etc. may get missed out on certain essential nutrients. It may also contain excess fats which are not metabolized quickly and pose health issues in the later stages of the fish's life like eye drop syndrome. Silver, Black, and Jardini are quite hardy fishes and are easy to take care of. Do a 50% water change once a week to maintain water quality Asian Arowanas being expensive fishes, are kept in a well-maintained environment by the breeders. So that are quite sensitive and intolerable to high nitrates and ammonia levels. The Temperature, PH, the hardness of water, etc., should not fluctuate at all. If you have an expensive fish, use PH, ammonia and nitrate test kits. Use high capacity heaters to keep the temperature constant at any number between 25℃ to 30℃ (77℉ to 86℉) Use sump or canister filter. Sponge filters are unacceptable for the larger fish tank. I recommend you to keep bare bottom tanks. If you plan to keep substrates, make sure to vacuum clean the whole of it. Or else it is very difficult to cope up with the water quality. Do not use driftwood. Arowana may get hurt by sharp and pointed edges of driftwood especially while feeding and you'ii end up having an Arowana with scarred and chipped scales. Arowanas may destroy small and delicate plants to its aggressive nature. I highly recommend you to keep single Arowana in your tank. If you crowd your fish tank like this picture, you will end up having stunted Arowana. It won't die, it'ii just be stressed out throughout its entire life. Arowanas are aggressive due to their territorial nature. So, if you want many fishes, make sure to have a giant tank. Arowanas are good jumper use well covered and heavy lids. Cover up any gaps with heavy nets. If your fish is stressed out due to any reason, like poor water quality, the lake of space, etc., it may try to jump out and break its spine. use aquarium lighting as per your needs. LESs made especially for enhancing the color of Arowana's body are available. Do not keep the lights on 24/7. Fishes do need some dark periods to rest, which is essential for their growth. Meet the world's most expensive tropical fish. Platinum Arowana price - $400000, Don't be mistaken, this is a common albino silver Arowana, which costs not more than $400
